From within the Camera

After many months of just building up memory, I finally got the initiative to remove some of the photos from the family camera.  I was pleasantly surprised to see that my photos have remained from that rainy day so long ago.  Here, take a look:

Mistress of Mishaps

Straight from my sketchbook guys....read it and weep.

2015

Twas the day of 2015
and all through the house
every soul was stirring
except for the cat...

Barbed Wire and Superglue

So, I was at camp Liahona.  It's a youth camp for Priests and Laurels in my steak to go for an overnight-er to learn about leadership and other life skills.  On Friday night we played Fugitive.  The object of the game is to get from point A to point B without getting caught by the adults.  Our point B was the river bank.  Me and Kailee Hendricks decided to go where less people were going and head west around the camp and through the cover of trees.  It seemed perfect.  When we started we went running and sprinting from tree to tree to keep under cover.

I decided to dash for another tree.  Suddenly I stopped.  It was not that I intended on stopping but I ran into an invisible wall.  'No wait' I thought, 'it's not a wall, it's a fence.'  Then my brain got to my senses and realized it was a barbed wire fence when my legs felt like it got chomped by a giant rattlesnake.  I turned around, grabbed poor leg and did something I thought I could never do.
 ......"Sh**!"  I said.......
It slipped, honestly it just happened.  But I didn't think my leg got cut too bad.  I kept going, but I lost my stealthiness and got caught pretty soon.  I must have been in a bit of shock because I didn't feel much pain at all.  When I got to the light though my legs turned out to be a different story:  I had a scratch on my left leg, 2 puncture wounds on my right thigh, and a big gash that ran down my right shin.

I went to the nearest adult to get medical attention.  I didn't intend on the pitiful attention I got from all the other kids.  It was so annoying.  My right leg was was pretty bad with that gash and all, but luckily there was a doctor there.  He didn't have any sutures for stitches, but he did have superglue.  Hurray!  He laid me down and gave me a local anesthetic to numb my leg.  The only thing that really hurt in that event was the needle.  I've never had a needle hurt but that killed!  Another kid, Jackson was just so nice and he talked to me the whole time to keep me from getting board that whole hour.  I like nice boys.

Brother Phillips was able to glue my leg back together and wrap it all up.  Now I've got a big yellow wrap that says "look I damaged my leg!  Come over and ask me what happened!"  It says that figuratively of course.  I was just hoping that people wouldn't be too worked up about it.  Or at least notice.

Okay, so that was my adventure on Friday night, but even for the last couple of days I've been getting so much attention for it.  I don't know if I like it.  I mean I don't mind people caring, but do I really have to get the same sorry answer every time I tell my funny story?  One Beehive said it was really funny and laughed.  For me that was a breath of fresh air.  Thank you, Carina, for having a sense of humor.
I laugh even how at this event.  I mean, I ran straight into a barbed wire fence.  I was laughing even right after I cut it.  For some people to have an epic story of injury I ran into a fence.  I just wish the people in this world could laugh more about some of their woes than cry about it.

Future Wedding Pictures. It's so happening

This is exactly how I want my wedding pictures to be like.  But maybe I'll be in the action a little bit more.  So me and my "knight" can kick but together.  Hee hee.

An Intimidating Sort

You know isn't it funny the way we view things?  We look at The Wonderful Wizard of Oz and see Dorothy's gang.  Don't they just look so sweet?  No, not in a literal sense they don't.  I mean lets think logically: an iron lumber jack carrying around his axe, a lion, and a scarecrow that really shouldn't be moving much less speaking.  It can really give you creeps.  But instead they're nice and help Dorothy.  o_O
Then we have Alice in Wonderland.  My brother talked about it scaring him when he was young.  Really?  A smiley cat and children get nightmares?  Isn't our view of things just odd?

Now lets talk about those flying monkeys :).  Yes they are pretty scary looking, but if L. Frank Baum really wanted to scare the little children and grown-ups, he would have put wings on spiders!  Yes, the total nightmarish fear would appear in our minds horrifically.

Here is a sketch of Dorothy and his gang with Alice, because I thought it would be fun (that's were I thought up all this stuff up above).

Semester Art pieces and House of Bears

Uh...hi
I'll try to be better at updating my blog, even if it's silliness and stuff.  My father's birthday is coming.  Strange.  So mother decided to through a big party on Friday.
Suddenly I feel I'm living in a house of bears (hm catchy, I'm open to anyone who will write a song or poem about that phrase.  I don't really care what).  Mother and Sister are brawling each other constantly.  I'm just the little fox awkwardly keeping out of it and doing the dishes.  And the real bear (Papa) is hibernating.

You know, I looked at the snow covered mountains and thought, wouldn't it be nice to live up there?  To be so cold your toes are falling off a bit.  You're covered in furs and things to keep warm and gather firewood for your little cottage fire, while you're watching the snowflakes make their final waltz to the ground.  I would love that.  (I know, I'm weird, I would love to live in an isolated mountain in the snow)

Anyway, here are my art pieces from last semester drawing class. Or at least some of them:

Comparison of Shiny and Matt (my scanner made all the lines in my background stand out.  I know it's awful but in real life they aren't there that much.  Ignore them)

Chirstmas Comes But Once a Year

Let us admit it. I love cartoons!  I love the older ones the most.  Here, have a Christmas cartoon.  I grew up with this cartoon every time I went to my Gramma's house (yes, even in the middle of summer. I didn't have seasons, I watched Christmas stuff year round).

The Duel by Eugine Feild

The gingham dog and the calico cat
Side by side on the table sat;
'Twas half-past twelve, and (what do you think?)
Nor one nor t'other had slept a wink?
The old Dutch clock and the Chinese plate
Appeared to know as sure as fate
There was going to be a terrible spat.

(I wasn't there; I simply state
What was told to me by the Chinese plate!)

The gingham dog went "bow-wow-wow!"
And the calico cat went "mee-ow!"
The air was littered, an hour or so,
With bits of gingham and calico,
While the old Dutch clock in the chimney-place
Up with its hands before its face,
For it always dreaded a family row!

(Never mind: I'm only telling you
What the old Dutch clock declares is true!)

The Chinese plate looked very blue,
And wailed, "Oh, dear! What shall we do!"
But the gingham dog and the calico cat
Wallowed this way and tumbled that,
   Employing every tooth and claw
In the awfullest way you ever saw--
And, oh! how the gingham and calico flew!

(Don't fancy I exaggerate--
I got my news from the Chinese plate!)

Next morning where the two had sat
They found no trace of dog or cat;
And some folk think unto this day
That burglars stole that pair away!
But the truth about the cat and pup
Is this: they ate each other up!
Now what do you really think of that!

(The old Dutch clock it told me so,
And that is how I came to know.)

*I love this poem.  It's one of my favorites.*

Too Bubbly to bear

I was very giggly today.  Very bubbly.  Gosh I couldn't even stand myself!  How does my aunt live that way?

Here's a Capella group my dad really likes and me vise versa.  My favorite is the base guy.  I love a man who can sing base!

Yams on Fire

We Myers's don't do much on Thanksgiving.  Mainly we invite Gramma over and we feast on food.  With our two boys gone and one being the bottomless pit, we didn't make a lot of food, but now have tons of left-overs.

But this Thanksgiving was special.  It made a special memory that got Mother screaming Oooo! Oooo! and me rolling on the ground giggling with pleasure and the kitchen atmosphere ablaze with light.

Mother set the yams on fire.

"Good thing we took out the smoke alarm," Says my father.  "That would have been annoying."

*That should be a song!  "Yams on Fire!"*

My Thanksgiving Traditions and Harvest Commencement

My family doesn't do many traditions every holiday.  Mostly just eat food.  But as for the youngest child who is conveniently out of school, I have a tradition of my own....Making the food....My chores when I wake up for my chores is to make the food.  So there is my tradition.  But this year is special.  Instead of using pumpkin for the pie, I'm using banana squash. Ooooo! Sounds exciting!  And I must say, they look very nice.  I really want to eat them now, but I must restrain until tomorrow evening.

Also, I went out in my backyard and say the last apple remaining on the tree.  How pretty to depict the end of the harvest.  So I tried photography and I think it looks....But I 'm not very good and my camera isn't very good.  Also, my dad create a lovely masterpiece, so I'll try my "photography" again and take a picture of it.  I think you'll enjoy it.

Goblin Town

So last night I watched The Hobbit extended version with my family.  There was one scene that I found...a bit odd.  I mean, it was weird...and cheesy.  I see why it's a deleted scene.  I didn't expect a rock song coming out of middle earth.  You just have to see it.  The dwarves were being funny though and I liked that, but I didn't like the dancing fat guy.......
For your joy, here's the lyrics pulled right from the book, so you can read along and get this bizarre song in your little heads.  Of course, the movie is way different from the book, but you get my point.

Clap! Snap! the black crack!
Grip, grab! Pinch, nab!
And down down to Goblin-town
You go, my lad!

Clash, crash! Crush, smash!
Hammer and tongs! Knocker and gongs!
Pound, pound, far underground!
Ho, ho! my lad!

Swish, smack! Whip crack!
Batter and beat! Yammer and bleat!
Work, work! Nor dare to shirk,
While Goblins quaff, and Goblins laugh,
Round and round far underground
Below, my lad!

Freedom!

It's over!  I have survived!  I have returned!  greetings friends and blog I am back!  I still feel funny but it will pass soon...so...........now what?
Dang it, I don't know what to say...
The last monsters under my bed moved out.  I'm kind of lonely... Hey monsters, I have a bed for rent!  And forget the ones in the closet; I don't even want to know what they're doing in there (any monster big enough for your closet isn't worth reckoning with).
Here's a hummingbird I drew in my drawing class:

Me in a zentangle

I am in a zentangle right now.  I have no idea what the heck is supposed to be going on but I pretend, like these bagpipe marchers, that I know what I'm doing and I totally get the picture.  Well...yeah.  Sometimes I wonder if I'm selfish...anyway, that was random. I made this in drawing class. I love that class!

Like a Robot

I've been doing a lot this summer.  More than I have ever done.  I'm glad I'm not terribly bored anymore... But I'm not happy.  I've been pushing and pulling at something that I don't want and what doesn't want me.  I think I enjoy things, but the joy just seems so...empty.  I am like a robot doing things for some important purpose.  Like what? Memories, recognition, physical health, something?  So far, my personal reward jar is just empty. empty.  Robots are empty.  That's why they do stuff they don't enjoy.  Destroying is so much work and so depressing.  I don't think they want to do that.  But somehow they must, and they do it like they'll get great reward out of it.  I want to do things that I really want to do.  I'm trying to break free, but the programing of the cyborg over me is too strong.  Robots are so miserable because they don't have a heart, or at least they have one but don't ever listen to it.  Listen to your heart.
This scetch brings me so much relief to do it, but I wish I hadn't done that ugly blue background on it.  Oh well, I'm lazy.

Philosophy

"He played with the idea, and grew wilful; tossed it into the air and transformed it; let it escape and recaptured it; made it iridescent with fancy, and winged it with paradox.  The praise of folly, as he went on, soared into a philosophy, and Philosophy herself became young, and catching the mad music of Pleasure, wearing, one might fancy, her wine-stained robe and wreath of ivy, danced like a Bacchante over the hills of life, and mocked the slow Silenus for being sober.  Facts fled before her like frightened forest things. Her white feet trod the huge press at which wise Omar sits, till the seething grape-juice rose round her bare limbs in waves of purple bubbles, or crawled in red foam over the vat's black, dripping, sloping sides. It was an extraordinary improvisation."

--Ocar Wilde, The Picture of Dorian Grey

I really like this book so far.  It has beautiful descriptions to everything.  Despite wanting to punch one of the characters in the face, but almost every book has that kind of guy.
